Plan on the other side
In my video work - often preoccupied with space, urban organisation and representation, and which I like to define as essays - I try to put documentary and fictional footage in an interactive relation, as well as introduce theoretical reflections in an audio-visual form. The realisation of the films and/or installations is usually conducted in parallel to the development of a position, with the result of both experiences being related to the research and also to the work-practice itself.

In this sense, they are "contextual works" concerned with the conditions of the place where - and the time when - they take place. The approach, content and form is all, as in a feedback effect, influenced by these same conditions.

In the light of these ideas, I intend to develop my part in the Tehran project in the sense of an "interactive and performative work-in-progress", developing form and content after having been confronted with Iran (rather than projecting something unto it beforehand).

The essential object of interest here is a cultural one. It shall be developed by way of an inquiry into signs and representations in an urban setting (both in Switzerland and Iran), and into the ways in which these signs influence the process of cultural assimilation. I shall thus begin by conducting a sort of inquiry among Iranian people living here (there?) in Switzerland, and by asking them about their points of view on this set of questions.
